Vedantha oversees food and land use, litigation and the Brazil programme at CIFF - a global climate philanthropy. Prior to CIFF, he had a wide-ranging career developing climate policy in the UK government. In the run-up to COP26, he was a key architect of the Zero Emissions Vehicle Council and the Industrial Deep Decarbonisation Initiative. He also helped negotiate the EU Emission Trading System, create the UK's post-Brexit alternative, and design policy to help decarbonise heating in the UK. He is a trustee of Murmur, a foundation driving climate leadership from the music and arts, a recent Policy Fellow at the Centre for Science and Policy at the University of Cambridge, and an author of papers on climate litigation. Outside of climate, he is a passionate musician and a former UK chess player
